One-Day Special Education Professional Development for Staff

Investing in one-day professional development rooted in special education can profoundly benefit both staff members and students. Through targeted training, educators:

  • Gain crucial insights and tools to understand and support students with diverse learning needs

  • Gain confidence in implementing effective strategies tailored to individual student requirements

Consequently, students receive tailored support and accommodations, leading to improved academic, social, and emotional outcomes, which fosters an inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive.

Trauma Sensitive Education and De-Escalation

Participants gain understanding of student behavior from a trauma lens, and learn how to address misbehavior by recognizing the stages of escalation and learning concrete de-escalation strategies.

Understanding Disabilities and its Effect on Behavior

Learn how disabilities manifest, or look and sound, in the classroom. Staff will learn how to meet students where they are, to manage behavior. This session dives specifically into ADHD, Autism, and ODD.

Cracking the Code to Decrease Misbehavior

Participants learn about the four functions of behavior (access, sensory, escape, and tangible) to identify replacement behaviors that allow students to be more successful throughout the day.

Universal Designed Learning (UDL)

Learn the purpose and benefit of implementing UDL principles into daily lessons. Attendees will unpack each domain, explore a case study, and practice implementing into lessons.

Hear What Past Clients Have Said

  • I feel more confident in how I manage classroom culture and behavior, in the requests I make from students (e.g. I was afraid of asking students to hand over their phones, now I confidently hand them a leather pouch and they submit their phones without resisteance). The students are more responsive as a result.

Behavior Series Participant, East Harlem Charter School

  • The session was quite informative. It provided a case study to identify trauma enforced situations, and how they connect to the domains of impairment. The groups had opportunities to dialouge about strategies used and receive additional strategies that can be applied.
